The national team of Morocco defeated the team of Portugal in the match of the 1/4 finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The match at the "El-Tummama" stadium in Doha ended with a score of 1:0.

Liz Truss has been appointed as the new Prime Minister of Great Britain

On Monday, September 5, a new prime minister of the country was appointed in the United Kingdom. He became the current head of the British Foreign Ministry, Liz Truss.

This is reported by Reuters.

Truss replaced Boris Johnson in this position, who became a close friend of Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia.

The main rival of Truss in the fight for the premiership was the former finance minister Rishi Sunak. But Sunak ended up getting half as many votes as Truss.

Voting took place on the candidates for the position of chairman of the Conservative Party. This position automatically leads to the premiership, which happened today with Truss.

It should be noted that Truss became the third female Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after Margaret Thatcher and Theresa May.

During her leadership campaign, Truss made it clear she would defy convention by reversing tax hikes and cutting other fees, which some economists say will fuel inflation.

That, along with a promise to review the Bank of England's powers while protecting its independence, prompted some investors to abandon the pound and government bonds.

Truss faces a long, expensive and difficult backlog that opposition lawmakers say is the result of 12 years of poor Conservative government. Some called for early elections - which Truss said she would not allow.

Truss said she would appoint a strong cabinet, abandoning what one source close to her called a "presidential style" of governing, and would have to work hard to win over some lawmakers from her own party who backed Sunak in the race.

Also, Liz Truss noted that her policy regarding the attitude and support of Ukraine will remain unchanged. Great Britain will continue to support Ukraine in the fight against the Russian Federation.

Today, Johnson is due to make a final speech in Parliament, after which he will head to the Balmoral estate in Scotland, where Queen Elizabeth II will accept his resignation as prime minister.

The monarch will then receive Truss and formally ask her to form a government under his leadership. After this ceremony, Truss will go to the Downing Street residence and give a speech in which he will outline his priorities as the head of government.

Kyle Gundy, coach of the Oklahoma Sooners has resigned

Cale Gundy, a coach and mainstay of the Oklahoma Sooners college football program, resigned on Sunday after admitting to reading aloud a word in front of the team's players that he described as "shameful and hurtful."

Gundy's 24-year association with the Sooners dates back to 1990, when he played three seasons as the team's quarterback, throwing more than 6,000 yards and achieving 35 touchdowns.

Having graduated in 1993, Gundy went on to serve as a graduate assistant in 1994, before moving on to coach quarterbacks and running backs at Alabama-Birmingham.

He eventually returned to his alma mater's football program as part of the then-coach Bob Stoops' staff in 1999. During the course of over two decades on the sidelines with Oklahoma, the team captured 14 Big 12 titles and the 2000 national championship.

Gundy, 50, announced his resignation in a lengthy statement shared to Twitter, in which he acknowledged saying a word he "should never - under any circumstance - have uttered."

According to the former wide receiver coach, he read the word off the screen of a "distracted" player's iPad during a film session last week. "I noticed a player was distracted and picked up his iPad and read aloud the words that were written on the screen," Gundy's statement explained.

"The words displayed had nothing to do with football. One particular word that I should never — under any circumstance — have uttered was displayed on that screen. In the moment, I did not even realize what I was reading and, as soon as I did, I was horrified."

Gundy continued: "I want to be very clear: the words I read aloud from that screen were not my words. What I said was not malicious; it wasn't even intentional. Still, I am mature enough to know that the word I said was shameful and hurtful, no matter my intentions.

"The unfortunate reality is that someone in my position can cause harm without ever meaning to do so. In that circumstance, a man of character accepts accountability. I take responsibility for my mistake. I apologize."

TikTok sensation Addison Rae blasted for ‘blasphemous’ Christianity-themed bikini

TikTok star Addison Rae is courting controversy with her latest swimsuit snap.

On Tuesday, the 21-year-old TikTok sensation shared an Instagram photo of herself in Praying’s Holy Trinity Bikini ($100), the top of which is printed with “Father” on one side and “Son” on the other.

While the image only captured Rae’s top half, the bottom of the scandalous suit, which was created in collaboration with Adidas, reads “Holy Spirit.”

While the star’s famous friends gushed over the look — photographer Mark “The Cobrasnake” Hunter called it a “home run,” while singer Tate McRae wrote, “oh my god addision” — many commenters expressed their disapproval of the daring swim style in the comments.

“Nah this disrespectful to Jesus. Sad what y’all do for money,” one person wrote, while another pearl-clutcher added, “This is not okay! BLASPHEMY!”

“Is nobody gonna talk about this disrespecting religions,” a third wrote, while a fourth deemed the bikini “so messed up.”

Over the weekend, Christina Aguilera posed on Instagram in the French version of the two-piece — printed with “Père,” “Fils” and “Esprit Saint” — cheekily captioning her video, “A religious experience.” The pop star’s post didn’t draw the same criticism as Rae’s, however; perhaps things got lost in translation?

A favorite of young stars including Olivia Rodrigo, Halsey and Madison Beer in addition to Rae, Praying offers cheeky styles inspired by Y2K nostalgia; popular pieces include a crop top ($55) that labels its wearer “God’s Favorite” and a shoulder bag ($90) that commemorates Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s decade-long love.

Today is the Independence Day of the United States of America

Today, July 4th, the United States celebrates its 246th anniversary of independence.

This national holiday in the USA is established in honor of the Declaration of Independence of the USA from the United Kingdom of Great Britain, signed on July 4, 1776.

Congress made Independence Day an official unpaid holiday for federal employees in 1870 and only changed it to a paid holiday in 1938.

The declaration of independence was signed by 56 representatives from 13 colonies. Only the co-author of the Declaration, John Hancock, signed it on July 4, 1776, and the rest did so a little later. The main author of the Declaration, Thomas Jefferson, was 33 years old at the time of signing. The youngest signer was Thomas Lynch (Jr.) of South Carolina, who was 27 years old. Benjamin Franklin was 70 years old - and he was the oldest; in general, the average age of signatories was 45 years.

Note that the stars on the original American flag were originally arranged in a circle. It was a symbol of the equality of all thirteen colonies.

The first celebration of Independence Day took place on July 8, 1776 in Philadelphia. On this day, the Declaration of Independence was read publicly for the first time after people were gathered in the square by the tolling of the Liberty Bell.

Americans claim that the turkey as the national symbol of the USA was proposed by Benjamin Franklin. However, this is just a well-established legend.

Famously, after the Continental Congress adopted the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, it commissioned John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson to create a seal that would represent.

And, despite his persuasion, Franklin did not offer turkey then. According to his notes, Franklin suggested the image of "Moses standing on the shore and stretching out his hand over the sea, thereby causing him to defeat Pharaoh seated in an open chariot" along with the motto "Rebellion against tyrants is obedience to God."

However, this option did not impress the Continental Congress. Only in 1782 was approved the Great Seal of the United States with a white eagle in the center.

The story about the turkey appeared because in one of his letters Franklin criticized the eagle as a symbol of the United States:

"For my part, I would like the bald eagle not to be chosen as a representative of our country," he wrote. According to Franklin, the eagle was a "bird of bad moral character" that "does not make an honest living" because it steals food from the hawk and is too "lazy" to get food for itself.

In contrast, Franklin called the turkey "a much more respectable bird" and "a true native of America." Franklin considered the turkey "a bird of courage" that "would not hesitate to attack a grenadier of the British Guards who should presume to invade his farmyard in a red coat."

This private letter was written on January 26, 1784, but Franklin never made his views public, and when eight years earlier he was given the opportunity to officially propose a symbol for the United States, his idea had biblical motives.

The first celebration of Independence Day took place 4 days later - only on July 8, 1776 in Philadelphia. On this day, the Declaration of Independence was read publicly for the first time to the people who gathered in the square to the ringing of the Liberty Bell.

The first organized mass celebrations took place in Philadelphia in 1777. Many of the elements of that celebration later became a tradition - for example, honoring the colors of the flag, holding a parade and fireworks.

Fireworks shows are now held in every city in the United States on Independence Day.

On the 4th of July, Americans attend ceremonial parades, watch holiday concerts with the participation of leading stars and military bands, and have barbecues.

Among the traditional dishes on Independence Day, it is worth highlighting hot dogs, cheeseburgers, potato salad, various cakes and pies.

But no matter what is on the table and no matter where you celebrate, American symbols are an important element everywhere - from flags around the house, clothes and accessories to tableware and napkins in the colors of the American flag.

Google Honors Anne Frank's Life With Touching Doodles

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the publication of the tragic diary of Anne Frank, a Jewish girl from Germany who, after Adolf Hitler came to power, was sent to concentration camps and died of typhus there, Google dedicated doodles to the Holocaust victim. They depict moments in the life of a little Jewish woman, which she described in her infamous diary.

Doodles have been launched in over 25 countries including Germany, USA, UK and Ukraine. In addition, Google released Google Trends statistics showing Anne Frank search trends around the world to show users' interest in the topic.

"Anne Frank" is one of the top 60 search topics related to Jewish culture, and the house in Amsterdam, where the girl and her family hid from the Nazis, is "googled" more often than the Van Gogh Museum, also located in the capital of the Netherlands.

The doodles were created by Google Doodle art director Toka Mayer. The German illustrator said she tried to put her full sense of responsibility in preserving the memory of the Holocaust into the images.

Representatives of the Anne Frank Fonds Basel Yves Kugelmann and Barbara Eldridge also joined the project.

They noted: "The stories of victims of discrimination and violence are often not told. Anne Frank's diary testifies to discrimination and violence. Anne's father, Otto Frank, decided to publish her texts immediately after the war in order to prevent anti-Semitism and ethnic marginalization, and also to create a basis for dialogue between generations and countries. He wanted his daughter's diary to give voice to all the victims of Nazism.75 years ago today, the first edition of The Diary of Anne Frank was published, and today's doodle opens the door to the past, but also raises awareness of the present.Millions of children around the world are still fleeing war, ethnic marginalization and racism."

The Diary of Anne Frank has become one of the most widely read non-fiction works in history. The memoirs of a Jewish girl, translated into more than 80 languages, are today an indispensable tool in schools.

The Frank family was found and arrested on August 4, 1944. The girl and her parents were sent to a detention center by the Nazi secret service, where they were forced to do forced labor. They were later deported to the Auschwitz concentration camp in Poland. There they lived in very limited space and in unsanitary conditions. A few months later, Anne and Margot Frank were sent to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp in Germany. In addition to the brutal deliberate killings of prisoners by Nazi troops, deadly diseases spread rapidly in these places. Anne Frank was only 15 years old when she died of typhus.

The US Senate has passed a bill on land lease, it will allow to supply weapons to Ukraine faster

 UA

Late Wednesday, the US Senate unanimously passed an important bill to restore the program of World War II, which will allow President Joe Biden to more effectively send weapons and other supplies to Ukraine amid Russia's invasion.

This, according to European Truth, reports Politico.

The senators quickly backed the proposal, known as a lease, as the Ukrainian military proved it could fend off Russian troops who have been shelling Ukrainian cities since late February.

The Lend-Lease program, created during World War II, was considered a turning point during the war because it allowed the United States to quickly replenish Allied supplies without time-consuming procedural obstacles.

Lawmakers are resorting to extraordinary tactics last used during the greatest global conflict of the 20th century, another sign that the United States and its allies in Europe believe Russia's invasion poses an existential threat to the liberal order.

This shows that the Western world believes that Ukraine can now win the fight against the Russian invaders.

The document, known as the Law on Land Lease for the Defense of Ukraine's Democracy of 2022, will speed up the transfer of important military equipment and other critical supplies to Ukraine by reducing bureaucratic red tape. It allows the de facto donation of equipment with provisions that provide that the recipient countries will pay their cost to the United States later.

It is unclear whether the House of Representatives will consider the Senate's lease law before both houses leave Washington on Thursday for a pre-scheduled two-week break. The House of Representatives is expected to pass a bill on trade with Russia following a Senate vote Thursday morning.

"It is not yet known exactly who launched the missiles at the US consulate. But I am convinced that the ultimate beneficiary is Russia. , he will receive both war and shame, according to Winston Churchill's formula ", - wrote Andriy Tsaplienko.

Zodiac serial killer identified

The unsolved cases department has unwound the ball leading to the maniac from the sixth known victim. The first murder was committed decades ago, in the 1960s, in San Francisco.

The United States has identified one of the most famous serial killers who terrorized San Francisco in the late 1960s. A group of specialists investigating unsolved cases claims that they have found out who is hiding under the code name Zodiac and is a criminal, famous for his cruelty and unsolvable mysteries.

The Case Breakers, made up of more than 40 former law enforcement investigators, journalists and military intelligence officers, were involved in the disclosure, Fox News reported. They claim to have identified the zodiacal killer as Gary Francis Poste, who passed away in 2018.

Decades have passed since his first crime. The team was able to find new forensic evidence and photographs from Poste's secret room.

In one image, Poste's forehead shows scars that correspond to the scars on the composite Zodiac. And the whole tangle of the investigation began to unwind after the thread connected with the murder of Cherie Joe Bates.

The researchers believed that Bates was the sixth victim of the Zodiac, and tried unsuccessfully to get investigators to compare her DNA with Poste's. The team said there was a series of coincidences between Bates and Poste: Poste was an Air Force veteran who underwent a medical examination in connection with a firearms incident at a hospital 15 minutes from Bates's murder site. At the scene of the murder, a paint-splattered wristwatch was found, allegedly worn by the killer. Poste has been painting houses for over four decades. Detectives found Poste's boot heel print that matched in style and size to those found elsewhere in the Zodiac. The police, however, refuse to consider the death of Cherie Joe Bates as the sixth case of the Zodiac.

Also, as the newspaper writes, the serial killer during his lifetime put together a squad, which in California was nicknamed "the killing machine." It is noted that he almost picked up guys on the street who grew up without fathers, and "tamed" them. One of these, according to Fox News, said that he hid the identity of the criminal for 10 years.

According to correspondents, despite the fact that the leader has been dead for three years, some are still loyal to him. Perhaps this is somehow connected with one of his messages, which contains the following words: "I am not afraid of the gas chamber, because with its help I will find myself in paradise even sooner, because now I have enough slaves to work for me while others will have nothing. "

Passenger plane caught fire in the United States during takeoff (Video)

According to local authorities, rescuers evacuated all passengers and crew from the plane, which caught fire during takeoff from the airport in the American city of Atlantic City.

According to NBC 10, the cause of the fire was a bird that hit the right engine of the Spirit Airlines liner while it was still on the ground.

"All passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the plane. No serious injuries were reported. The airport has reopened, "New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy wrote on Twitter.

The plane was flying to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
