If the world and all mankind come to an end, there must be a place that will revive everything from the beginning.
Imagine that the end of the world has come and you have survived. Where to go and how to start all over again? Many questions arise in the head. Fortunately, in the second half of the 20th century, scientists have thought of all possible options for the end of the world and made it so that humanity had a chance to restore life to its former form.
Where to look for salvation?
In the northernmost part of Norway is the island of Svalbard, which in 2006 began construction of the World Seed Repository. According to official sources, it is located in the city of Longyearbyen with a population of 2,000 inhabitants. In reality, the shelter can be found a kilometer from the local airport.
The idea of scientists: the northern storage in the form of a bank of seeds brought from different countries, will help to revive the native fauna.
Is it reliable?
The World Seed Vault or, as it is also called, Doomsday Place is located 130 meters above sea level and is outside the zone of seismic activity, so natural disasters do not threaten it.
Is the repository open for visits?
Anyone can easily get to the vault, look at the massive doors and walls, as well as admire its design. But it will not be possible to go inside: access to stocks is open only to scientists and specialists who have permission from the government of their country.
Be careful!
If you still want to pave the way there, be careful! Polar bears are ready to meet you even in the settlements of the island.
