The most terrible holiday of the year - Halloween 2020, when there is a rampant demon on earth.
Terribly happy Halloween in 2020 will be celebrated on the night of October 31 to November 1. This year, a terrible night falls on a Saturday, so you can afford to hang out and have fun.
Halloween story
The story goes back to the roots of the ancient Celts who celebrated Samhain. The Celts divided the year into two equal halves. The period from May to October, they considered good and bright, and the period from November to April - cold, a time of evil and darkness. The night from October 31 to November 1 was the boundary between these two segments of the year.
At that time, people believed that it was on the night of Samhain that invisible doors opened between the world of the living and the world of spirits, through which deceased relatives could visit their living descendants.
However, evil spirits penetrated with them. And people had to protect themselves and their homes from uninvited guests from the afterlife. They gathered around the fire with their priests, put on animal skins to scare away evil spirits ...
When Christianity came to Europe, the meaning of the holiday gradually disappeared. In the VIII century, Pope Gregory III decided to postpone All Saints' Day to November 1. October 31 became the eve of this holiday. In English it sounded like All Hallows Even, and was later reduced to Halloween.

How to celebrate Halloween 2020
In the modern world, they continue to celebrate Halloween, but instead of animal skins they wear spectacular costumes.
One of the main attributes of the holiday is a Jack-lantern, ie a pumpkin on which a scary or cheerful face is cut out. Be sure to put a candle inside, then Jack will drive away all the evil spirits from the house and its inhabitants.
Why is such a pumpkin called Jack? According to legend, an Irish blacksmith named Jack twice managed to deceive the devil himself and take from him a promise to renounce encroachment on his soul. For such an "operation" Jack did not get to heaven, so he is forced to wander, waiting for Judgment Day. He lights his way with a piece of coal, which he hides in an empty pumpkin during bad weather.
Children love Halloween, because you can not only show off in creative costumes, but also stock up on sweets. Dressed children go from house to house, ask the owners a stern question "Candy or death ?!" and receives a "ransom" - candy.

On Halloween, houses, restaurants, cafes and even offices are decorated with pumpkins, artificial cobwebs and other decorations that match the theme of the holiday.
